What Is a No Win No Fee Dog Bite Claim?
A no win no fee agreement (also known as a Conditional Fee Agreement) allows you to pursue a dog bite injury claim without the worry of having to pay legal fees. If your claim is unsuccessful, and you have followed the terms of the agreement, you won’t have to pay for the work we have done nor will be liable for your opponent’s legal costs.
If your claim succeeds, a contribution to your legal fees will be recovered from the defendant insurers. The balance of our costs will be deducted from your compensation, subject to a maximum of 25% including vat. Essentially for every £1000 that is recovered we will retain £250 for our fees, and you receive £750.
How to Start Your Dog Bite Claim
If we believe your claim has reasonable prospects of success, i.e. at least a 51% chance, we will be happy to act on your behalf on a no win no fee basis. Once we have taken your instructions and explained your funding options in full, the required documents are emailed to you for e-signing. Once we receive the signed forms, we can begin work on your case immediately.
You have a 14-day cancellation period, should you change your mind, that runs from the moment you return the signed documents.
Dog Bite Claim Funding Options
We can deal with your claim on a no win-no fee basis.
No win-no fee agreements are the most common option for dog bite claims and such an agreement may include After the Event (ATE) insurance to protect you from financial risk of disbursements and the like if the case is unsuccessful. This will all be explained to you when we discuss your claim.
Other funding options offered, may include:
- Legal Expenses Insurance
Some household or contents insurance policies include legal cover for personal injury claims. We can help you check if this applies. If you do have this form of cover it is likely that your insurer will insist that you use their nominated solicitor - Trade Union Membership
If you are a union member, you may be entitled to legal support through your membership benefits. Again, you may be required to use solicitors chosen by your union. - Legal Aid
Legal aid is generally not available for personal injury claims except in very limited circumstances, such as certain birth injury claims involving children. It is not available for any form of dog bite claim. - Private Fee Paying
You may choose to instruct us on a private basis. In this case, legal fees would be payable regardless of the outcome. You would be required to pay on account and billed on a regular basis.
